Born in Bilbao in 2004, Iker Trigueros grew up where the mountains meet the Atlantic — a place that breathes surf, salt, and untamed energy. Today, he stands among Spain’s most promising young surfers, winning Spanish Surfing Championships.
Iker first touched a board around the age of seven or eight. His father used to surf, often taking him down to the beach just to watch the ocean move. At first, he didn’t quite feel the pull. But that changed the day he saw others gliding effortlessly across the water. Curiosity became passion, and soon enough, those first small pushes from his dad turned into a lifelong pursuit.

“It started with my father pushing me into waves,” he says. “And now, it’s practically all I do.”
When asked about the golden era of surfing, Iker doesn’t pick one. He believes every time has its light and its shadows. What he misses in today’s surf scene is simplicity — the pure joy before likes and followers became part of the ride. Still, he’s grateful for the moment he’s in, determined to carve his own path within it.
His favorite waves? A secret right-hander in Marrakech and the legendary barrels of Mundaka, the Basque gem that every surfer dreams of. But there’s one still calling his name — Snapper Rocks, Australia. It’s been on his mind since he was a kid, watching the World Tour events roll through year after year.
When he’s not chasing swells, you’ll likely find him back home at Sopelana, the beach where it all began. “It’s not the most powerful wave,” he admits, “but it’s where I grew up, and where I feel most at home.”
The soundtrack behind his journey? The Real Slim Shady by Eminem — unapologetic, restless, driven. Much like his own approach to the sport.
For Iker, a perfect day is simple: a morning training session, followed by an afternoon with friends — no need for anything more.
