Meet Powder Athlete™ Hugo Solorzano - World Junior Champion

Some athletes chase medals. Others chase mountains.
For Hugo Solórzano, the mountains have been home since the very beginning.

Born in Girona in 2007 and raised in the Valle de Arán, Hugo was only two months old when he first arrived in the Pyrenees — and he never really left. By the age of three, he was already skiing in Baqueira Beret, drawn to the rhythm of the snow and the silence of the peaks.

As the years passed, his curiosity turned into commitment. At fourteen, Hugo began training seriously in freeride, the rawest and most expressive form of skiing — where control meets chaos and every line tells a story.

His debut came in 2020 at Ordino-Arcalís, where he won first place in the U-14 category of the Freeride World Tour Junior (FWTJ). That first victory wasn’t just a result — it was a statement. From there, his progression was steady, fueled by humility, courage, and an unshakable connection with the mountains.

The 2022–2023 season marked a turning point. Hugo claimed three 3★ victories on the Freeride Junior Tour, earning the #1 European ranking and a coveted spot in the Freeride World Tour Junior Championship 2023–2024, where the best young riders on the planet compete.

In the following season, 2024–2025, he continued to solidify his presence on the European freeride circuit, achieving multiple podiums and once again earning selection for the 2025–2026 Junior World Championship.

“For me, freeride is not about winning — it’s about expression. Every turn is freedom.”

At just 18, Hugo represents the next generation of freeriders — one that blends discipline with daring, respect for nature with the instinct to push beyond comfort. His story isn’t about conquering the mountain, but about belonging to it.

We’re proud to welcome Hugo Solórzano to the Powder Bags Team — a rider who embodies everything we stand for: authenticity, passion, and a life lived wild by nature.
